Road run and display for classic vehicles and motorbikes in support of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the Dorset area of the Alzheimer's Society

Despite the last minute snag with the use of the pavilillion and the resulting costs involved in the hire of toilets, this years event managed to raise a total of £2,600 - 00, which was shared equally between the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and, the Dorset area of the Alzheimer's Society with small donations being made to the Sturminster Newton Scout group and the Purbeck Ferret Rescue organisation.

We had a couple of 'firsts' for Classics Around Dorset this year and I would especially like to thank Chris and Laura who very kindly agreed to bring their Marshall steam engine and 'living van' along for the day. It was a great attraction and generated a lot of interest.

Obviously, none of this works without all the car owners so a big 'thank you' to everyone who turned up, either for the road run or just to display vehicles on the field. For those who did the run, I hope you enjoyed it and I'm sure there's nothing odd about seeing a pink flamingo in the woods!

Thanks are also due to the Dorset branch of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club for dropping in for a few hours and to the Sturminster Newton Scouts who helped us on the day! Once again, Allan Gates from Mere Down Falconry gave us a fantastic flying display with his Birds of Prey, despite the weather in the afternoon being a bit less than ideal, and for those of you who are wondering, the wayward Kite went home late Sunday evening!! Thanks also to the Joe D Rose Band who provided the live music for the day and to Purbeck Ferret Rescue, who organised the ferret racing on the field. Finally, I have to thank all our sponsors and our lovely volunteers, who do so much, including members of the Camera Club who stationed themselves at various points along the route; the day couldn't happen without them!

The list of winners and our answers to the quiz are available via the 'INFORMATION' and the 'Winners and Answers' tabs above and, as you can see, I have, at last, managed to sort, re-size and after much stress uploaded the photographs from the Hazelbury Bryan Photographic Club (use 'GALLERY' tab to view). The accounts are finalised and we have donated £1,200-00 each to the Dorset and Somerst Air Ambulance and the Alzheimers Society with £100-00 donations to the Sturminster Newton Scouts and the Purbeck Ferret Rescue (full information via the 'ACCOUNTS' tab).
